Timothy Brook, born in 1951, is a Canadian historian,University of TorontoBachelor's degreeHarvard UniversityMaster's degree and Doctor of Philosophy. Currently retired professor at the University of British Columbia in Canada,National Academy of Sciences, UKacademicianThe Royal Society of CanadaMember, served as the President of the Asian Studies Society from 2015 to 2016. My main research areas cover the social and cultural history of the Ming Dynasty, modern Chinese history, and global history. I am the editor in chief《Harvard History of China》Series of books. Previously held positions at the University of TorontoStanford University、University of OxfordProfessor of History and former Dean of St. John's College, University of British Columbia. I first came to China as an exchange student in 1974 and later participated inJoseph Needham《Science and Civilization in China》Compilation work for the seventh volume.
